I assisted Ken by providing historical research and editorial services for this project. Ultimately, Ken put together a 58-page report on the history of his family, with a focus on their life in Niagara Township since the 1780s as Loyalist refugees and multi-generational farmers. This report contains historical photos, maps, surveys, census records, and a detailed timeline of the Slingerland family’s land holdings and life in the Niagara Region.

It was a pleasure to work with Judy by offering editorial and layout design assistance for her 269-page softcover book. My review, published on the back cover, reads:
Canada’s Forgotten Artifacts: 1967 Centennial Quilts provides a unique perspective on Canada’s centennial celebrations. This is primarily a story of patriotic Canadian women: dedicated to their families, their craft, and their country. A knowledgeable Quilt Professional, Judy Lyons artfully identifies quilts, patterns, and people from across the nation, weaving in captivating photos and anecdotes that demonstrate a stunning breadth of skill and creativity, along with a strong sense of community. Her 25 years of quilt appraisal experience and keen interest in quilt history have led Judy to classify the Centennial Quilt as a significant piece of Canadiana. This book is a vital record of this era of modern Canadian quilting, and a fascinating case study for how Canadians choose to commemorate their collective past.
